A beautiful white bareness.

I think my favourite church has to be Westleton. It has a beautiful, white bareness about it, like an upturned boat, and a lovely acoustic for music or for services. My son’s funeral was there and extraordinarily beautiful in spite of everything. It has only a stub of tower, but that has made it possible for modern conveniences to be added discreetly; and its new, vast organ looks like being one of the musical jewels of East Suffolk.
